Low-cost mobile remittances to boost rural development in The Gambia

News published on Dec 1, 2022 @ 12:21 pm

To harness the multiple benefits of digital remittances, the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), APS InternationalMFS Africa and QMoney, are working together to slash international remittances transfer costs and improve access to related services in remote areas of The Gambia, creating new socioeconomic opportunities that will boost overall rural economic development.

The PRIME Africa initiative, co-financed by the European Union (EU), seeks to revolutionize the remittance market in The Gambia, a country with one of the highest rate of remittances (as a percentage of its economy) anywhere in the world.
