In South Africa, the National Remittance Stakeholder Network (NRSN) was set up in 2022, quickly establishing itself as a reference point for the remittance ecosystem in the country.
This multi-stakeholder platform aims to connect the public and private sectors, and the civil society, to share information, challenges, opportunities and good practices to make remittances accessible, safer, affordable and count more.
Key topics covered during regular NRSN meetings, are taken from the South Africa National Remittance Market Diagnostic. These include the presence high levels of informality and cost in South Africa, recent advances in digitalizing merchant payments and implications for cross-border payments, and the National Roadmap for Action for South Africa, among others.
To keep the conversation going and to to discuss relevant remittance industry-specific issues, an NRSN Community of Practice (CoP) has been established. As a member of this community, you can share your knowledge, connect with your peers and promote your activities.
