The second Ghana CoP session focused on the topic of identity challenges faced by remittance operators in the Ghana market. IMS Margins, the technical partner of the National Identification Authority for the Ghana Card, gave a presentation to provide an overview of the Ghana Card and its rollout, and to respond to queries that were raised by members in the September CoP session. Following the presentation, IMS Margins then opened the floor to questions from the CoP community.

The following questions were discussed:

  1. To what extent does the existing identity system in Ghana hamper your remittance business, and how?
  2. What approaches have you taken to address or overcome these challenges?
  3. What’s been the key to the success of those approaches, if successful?
  4. What’s limited the effectiveness of those approaches, if constrained?
  5. How should we rethink and re-approach common identity challenges to unlock more remittance business in Ghana i.e. what new solutions are needed to address the challenge?
