The sixth NRSN and third CoP meeting

08 December 2022 at the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge, Accra.

The meeting started with a presentation of MFS Africa’s new regional innovative remittance initiative, followed by an update of the upcoming events in 2023 for NRSN members to mark in their calendars.

After a recap of last month’s Community of Practice session on Identity, IFAD and UNCDF co-led a discussion on the topic of Financial Literacy in Ghana’s remittance market. Low of levels of financial literacy has already been identified in our September CoP session as a hurdle to remittance innovation and last month’s CoP discussion on Identity highlighted the need to deepen consumer knowledge and awareness of the Ghana Card.

The meeting also discussed the Financial Literacy experiences in Ghana’s remittance market and discussed how remittance users can be further educated and empowered. The specific questions addressed were:

  • What financial literacy activities has your institution/organization undertaken in 2022?
  • What are the goals of your institution/organization’s financial literacy initiatives/activities?
  • How well is your institution/organization achieving their financial literacy goals?
  • What financial literacy lessons do you think are most important to remittance users?
